The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to return for the latest Hunger Games film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Return to Panem
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their appearance will probably be featured in a future-set scene, as the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.
