The network's Top New Show of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky sensibility.

"All of you got behind this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
